We’re currently seeking a Permit Submitter responsible for submitting permits in a timely manner, meeting all codes and regulations. This position works closely with the CAD and operations team to identify necessary permits/approvals. The Permit Submitter must be willing to quickly learn and determine the various local city, county and state interpretation of regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Drives to cities and/or county offices to meet with officials and discuss projects, present, or conduct building final inspections
Research and classify information for permit packages
Ensure compliance with both building & fire department standards, submittal requirements, construction specifications, and city ordinances
Interpret and understand engineering and/or building plans, building codes, floor plans, and legal descriptions
Respond and assist in the resolution of permit related inquiries and complaints
Evaluate alternative solutions to develop and present recommendations to supervisors
Determine permit application completeness in compliance with state and local codes and regulations
Communicate with the building, planning and fire departments
Submit and track permit application packages, monitor & document the various stages of the permit approval process, provide updates to customers and internal staff, all while meeting deadlines
Transport or pick up documents and deliver documents as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Some experience performing permit processing services with a municipal building department, background in construction, or previous experience in the material handling industry (*Plus, but not required)
Possession of a valid California driver’s license

BASIC SKILLS

Knowledge of building plans, building codes, ordinances and related terminology
Proficient in Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Apps Suite (G-Mail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Outlook)
Ability to manage a wide range of duties in a timely and effective manner, including timely plan processing, inspections and routing
Ability to coordinate with managers and clients (e.g. Permit Runner, Plan Checkers, Contractors and Municipalities)
